"Oh fair enough are sky and plain,
But I know fairer far:
Those are as beautiful again
That in the water are."

- A.E.Housman

Poem River

My favorite scarf that I've ever designed, Poem River combines two of my own stitch patterns: herringbone ribbed lace borders flow into a waving ribbed lattice.
It's also reversible, and the stitch patterns look complicated, but are easy to work.

Finished Size: 11" / 28 cm wide by 80" / 2.0 m long. Both length and width are easily modified by working more or fewer pattern repeats.

Yarn: Sunday Knits 3 ply (light sport weight) in Eden (merino), Nirvana (merino cashmere), Angelic (merino angora) or Brigadoon (merino tweed); 246 yd / 225 m per 1-3/4 oz / 50 g skein: 4 skeins. Shown in Nirvana rain.

Needles & Notions: Size 4 US / 3.5 mm.

Gauge: 26 sts and 34 rows = 4" / 10 cm in Stockinette stitch. In stitch pattern, one 18-stitch rep = 2-1/2" / 6.5 cm and one 34-row rep = 4" / 10 cm.

Skills used: Cast on, yarnover, knit 2 together, purl 2 together, slip-slip-knit (ssk), bind off.

Pattern includes: Written instructions, stitch patterns in both written and charted forms, abbreviations.
