New Old Town

Many of you have been asking for another sweater like Old Town. Well ... ask, and you shall receive!

Like Old Town, this new one is worked in one piece from the top down beginning with a provisional cast on and proceeding in a modular fashion ...

... with a lace-stitch border and horizontal yokes in front and back.

Short rows shape the upper sleeve.

Border stitch continues around to edge sleeves and hem, worked similarly to attached I-cord.

Pretty optional pockets are worked separately and sewn in place

Make in hip length as shown, or in tunic length.

Sizes: Finished sweater chest sizes 28 (32, 36, 40, 44, 48, 52)".
-2 to +2" ease recommended. Shown in size 36 on a 36" dress form.

Yarn: Sunday Knits 5 ply worsted weight yarn (137 yds / 125 m per 50g skein) in Eden (100% merino), Nirvana (92% merino 8% cashmere), Angelic (75% merino 25% angora) or Brigadoon (100% merino tweed): 6 (7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12) skeins for hip-length version, 7 (8, 9, 10, 11, 13, 14) for tunic-length. Shown in Eden bronze.

Needles & Notions: Needles Size 7 US / 3.75 mm, size 6 US / 3.5 mm for pocket edging, size 6 US / 3.5 mm dpn's for hemline and sleeve edging; tapestry needle.

Gauge: 19 sts and 26 rows = 4" in stockinette stitch.

Techniques used: Provisional cast on, lace, pick up and knit, short rows (explained).
