Potawatomi

Welcome in fall with this stylish poncho, knit mainly in stockinette stitch with a dramatic cabled border, knit-in fringe and a cozy collar that can button up as a cowl.

Potawatomi is knit flat in one piece from ribbed end to ribbed end with a shaped neckline. Thanks to the fringed edging, every row is worked as a right side row, making the stockinette portion purl free!

The ribbed cowl - perfect for buttoning up on a chilly day - is picked up and knitted. A single seam runs up one side from ribbing to neckline.

Finished Size: After seaming, fabric forms a folded rectangle 24" by 27" which includes a 3" knotted fring. Cowl/collar measures 24" around (buttoned) and 6-12" deep. Size can be easily modified; guidance for mods in pattern instructions.

Yarn: Sunday Knits 5 ply yarn (light worsted weight - 137 yds / 125 m per 50g skein): Eden (100% merino), Angelic (75% merino 25% angora), Nirvana (92% merino 8% cashmere), or Brigadoon (100% merino tweed): 9 skeins Shown in Eden dove
Substitute any light worsted weight yarn that works nicely to gauge: 1200-1250 yds total yarn length.

Gauge: 17 sts and 25 rows = 4" in Stockinette stitch.

Needles & notions: Size 8 US / 5 mm needles circular needles (with a cable long enough to hold 122 sts), cable or double- pointed needle, tapestry needle, four 7/8" buttons.
