Tia Teva

Breton stripes combine with stranded knitting in this asymmetrical pullover.

The short-row stranded sections aren't just pretty,
they are used to shape to the neckline and also add a little swirl to the hemline.

TiaTeva is knitted in one piece seamlessly from the top down. Striped areas are worked in the round; some stranded areas are worked flat back and forth, and others are in the round. Small provisional cast-ons are worked at the underarms.

The name, by the way, is a nod to knitting legend Teva Durham, who showed us how much fun it can be when our stranded work goes this-a-way and that-a-way.

Finished sweater measures: 30 (33, 35.5, 38, 41, 44) (46.5, 49.5, 52, 55, 58)" at chest level. 1-4" ease recommended.
Length is mid hip, sleeves to wrist. Shown in size 38, worn here with 2" ease.


Yarn: Knits 3 ply (light sport-weight) yarns including Nirvana (merino cashmere), Eden (merino), Angelic (merino angora) or Brigadoon (merino tweed); 246 yds per 50 gm skein:
4 (4, 4, 5, 5, 5) (5, 6, 6, 7, 7) skeins main color;
2 (2, 2, 3, 3, 3) (3, 3, 3, 4, 4) skeins contrast color.
Shown in Eden Storm with Eden Twig.

Gauge: 23 sts and 32 rows = 4" / 10 cm in Stockinette stitch using size 6 (4.0) mm needles.

Needles & Notions:US 6 (4.0 mm), 4 (3.5 mm) and 3 (3.25 mm) circular and/ or double-pointed needles; titch markers, crochet hook size F (4.0 mm) or larger for underarm provisional cast-on, stitch holder or waste yarn.
