Wickershanks

I'd never worn a pair of legwarmers. But lately I've developed a new appreciation for them.
Maybe it's because they look so stylish and charming.
Or maybe it's because, this winter of all winters, I really like having my legs warmed.

These toasty cabled leg warmers are knit in the round in two wickery stitch patterns - a wide cable makes a statement up front, and a scaled-down version wraps around the sides and back.

Finished Size: 13-1/2" around and 15" long. Both length and width are easily modified by working more or fewer pattern repeats.

Yarn: Sunday Knits 5 ply yarns: Eden (100% merino), Nirvana (92% merino, 8% cashmere), Angelic (75% merino, 25% angora) or Brigadoon (100% merino tweed); (each blend has 137 yd /125 m to 1-3/4 oz / 50 g); 3 skeins. Shown in Brigadoon stone.
Substitute 320 yards of any worsted weight wool or wool blend yarn that works well to gauge.

Needles & Notions: Size 5 / 3.75 mm and 6 / 4.0 mm double-pointed or circular needles; stitch markers. Adjust needle sizes if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Gauge: 19 sts = 4" / 10 cm in 2x2 rib using smaller needles, and 19 sts and 28 rounds = 4" / 10 cm in Main Stitch Pattern using larger needles.

Skills used: Cables, knitting in the round, reading charts.

Pattern includes: Written instructions, stitch patterns in both written and charted form.
