Ann Arbor thermal rib stitch

This is an original Carol Sunday stitch pattern. It's a cushy thermal rib stitch, of the sort that was used in traditional long johns and other cold-weather gear.

It's worked using classic brioche techniques along with some slip-knit maneuvers that are unique to this stitch pattern.

This video tutorial demonstrates the stitch pattern (also see Notes below):

Video may also be viewed here on Youtube.

NOTES:

- The first portion of the video demonstrates the stitch pattern using continental (picking) knitting techniques. For English knitters (throwers), the demo begins at 1 minute, 15 seconds.

- The video demonstrates the stitch pattern Rnds 1-6, as one would work it in the round. For working flat, note that Rnds 4-6 from the video also demonstrate the same techniques as would be used in flat Rows 4-6 and Rows 1-3.

- I spent a lot of time developing this stitch pattern, and used it in my Ann Arbor pullover. If you wish to use it in a design of your own that you make available, whether for purchase or free, please do credit Carol Sunday as the source of the stitch pattern.
